Borrowing rules by province
Consumer lending in Canada is governed by a federal ceiling plus provincial licensing rules, so the same product can work differently depending on where you live. Payday lending is the clearest example: Quebec does not license it at all, while provinces that do run their own regimes under the federal cost cap.
